The latest Monthly Construction Update from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), which uses the Builders Merchant Building Index (BMBI) as one of its sources, is now available.

This month’s update shows that construction output fell by 1.6% in July 2021, taking it below its pre-pandemic level in February 2020. New work (-3.2%) and repair & maintenance (0.6%) both contributed to the decline. Anecdotal evidence from businesses suggests that both price increases and ongoing supply issues contributed to this decline.
